Forecast For Vacation Week: Sunny Monday, Chance Of Showers Later

School's out! If you're doing the stay-cation thing, here's what you need to know about the weather this week.

Happy Spring Break!

Madison residents with school kids doing the stay-cation thing had a beautiful weekend to kick it off. Sure, it was a bit chilly Saturday, but it warmed up nicely Sunday. The forecast for Monday is sunny, calm winds, with a high near 56. It'll be a great day to get outside. 

May we suggest one of the town beaches, which include East Wharf, West Wharf, and the Surf Club. We also have Hammonasset here. It's free admission this week, although admission will be charged on the weekends starting next weekend. The Madison Land Conservation Trust also has lots of great hiking options. A full list is underneath the extended forecast below, with links to trail maps.

There also is the Rockland Preserve in North Madison, which is great for hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding. More detail on Rockland, along with maps, is provided below the extended forecast. Another favorite nearby is Timberlands, which is maintained by the Guilford Conservation Commission. 

Later this week, we have the chance of showers. But it's only a slight chance of showers, so maybe that will change. Here's the National Weather Service extended forecast for the week: 

  • Monday: Sunny, with a high near 56. Calm wind becoming southeast 5 to 9 mph in the morning.
  • Monday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 40. Southeast wind 5 to 8 mph becoming calm in the evening.
  • Tuesday: Partly sunny, with a high near 61. Breezy, with a south wind 8 to 13 mph increasing to 15 to 20 mph in the afternoon.
  • Tuesday Night: A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms, then a chance of showers after 8pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 46. South wind 6 to 11 mph becoming light southwest after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
  • Wednesday: A slight chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 64. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
  • Wednesday Night: A chance of showers after 2am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 47. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
  • Thursday: A chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 64. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
  • Thursday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 53.
  • Friday: A chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 66. Breezy. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
  • Friday Night: A chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 46. Chance of precipitation is 50%.
  • Saturday: A chance of showers. Cloudy, with a high near 59. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
  • Saturday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 38.
  • Sunday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 57.
