Home with the kids this week and looking for a day trip? Come visit
New Haven and the shops at Yale! It’s a CINcH!
1.) First stop—The Yale University Art Gallery (Park at 255 Crown Street
lot). Come and view the completely renovated gallery. Exhibits
include displays of art of the ancient Americas, European art, Asian art,
African art, modern contemporary art as well as the museum’s first-ever
galleries for coins and medals, photography and Indo-Pacific art. (1111 Chapel
Street, New Haven, CT)
Gallery hours: Tuesday-Friday, 10am-5pm
Saturday-Sunday, 11am-5pm
2.) Next stop—Lunch. There are many fabulous restaurants along Chapel Street
near the Yale Art Gallery. Delicious soups, salads and sandwiches as well as a
wide selection of books makes Atticus (1082 Chapel Street) a local favorite.
Get delicious burgers and shakes at Shake Shack (986 Chapel Street).
3.) Spend the rest of the day shopping in the local stores. There are many
lovely boutiques along Chapel Street, including idiom (1014 Chapel Street),
Wave Gallery (1046 Chapel Street), Agabhumi and Raggs (both at 1020 Chapel
Street). The Broadway shopping district is home to Apple (65 Broadway), Urban
Outfitters (43 Broadway), J. Crew (29 Broadway), Alex and Ani (284 York
Street), and Trailblazer (296 Elm Street), just to name a few. You are sure to
find something for everyone. Pick up some Yale memorabilia at the Barnes and
Noble, Yale Bookstore (77 Broadway) before you leave!
