We all have the ability to chart our own course and design
our own path, but many of us don’t. Why is that? Doubt? Self-talk? Lack
of Confidence? What
course are you charting now? Do you need
to set a new course? What holds you
back? What does your self-talk sound like?
The Compass, a movie produced by
John Spencer Ellis, founder and CEO of NESTA and Spencer Institute,
emphasizes many great
points such as courage, authenticity, determination, and foundation, but one of
the key points that are very interesting is that
it takes 17
reassurances
from others to counter act your one self-doubt comment to yourself.
17!

...that means if your self-talk says “Who do I think I am to write a
book?”
or “I am not smart enough to…..!.” or “I am not strong enough to…..!” It will
take 17 positive reassurances from others outside of yourself to negate these
thoughts. That is a lot of effort to
overcome just one thought.
