This small fishing area at the intersection of Tuxis Road and Middle Beach Road features several parking spaces, aMore bench, and a concrete stairwell into the water. It also offers a view of Tuxis Island, owned by the nearby Madison Beach Club, Gull Rock and, on a clear day, Long Island. The area is frequented not only by people fishing and swimming, but also by people walking, rollerblading and running along Middle Beach and Middle Beach West.

Madison Beach Hotel was originally built to serve shipbuilders and others involved in the whaling trade in the 1800s.</p> <p>In addition to overnight guests, the hotel is a frequent destination for locals seeking food and entertainment. The hotel also hosts clambakes, weddings and other events. In addition to its own private beach, the hotel is adjacent to the town's West Wharf Beach and is a short walk from the Surf Club.</p>

The Madison Beach & Recreation Department oversees programs at the town's parks, runs fall and winter day camps,More and schedules a variety of educational and fitness programs for town residents. The department also oversees the town's annual tree lighting ceremony at Christmas, and manages the town's before and after-school programs.</p> <p>The department also runs the town's fitness room, which is located at the town campus. Madison Surf Club

The Surf Club, a 45-acre beach park on Long Island Sound, provides town and area residents with recreational optionsMore year-round. The  beach is surrounded by volleyball and basketball courts, soccer/football fields with bleachers, a toddler playground, a playground for children 5 to 12 years old, a marsh trail and bocce courts. There are several picnic areas with grills, some in the shade and others on sunny Garvan Point next to a small beach reserved just for kayakers and sailors. Boat racks for the kayaks and sailboats are provided, as well.</p> <p>A short walk from the back of the park leads to additional soccer fields, and this beach leads to West Wharf Beach. The downtown retail area is also within walking distance, as are Madison Beach Hotel and Dolly Madison Hotel and Restaurant. Dining options at the Surf Club include <a href="http://splashsurfclub.com/About_Us.html"></a>M & J Snacks.</p> <p>Beach stickers are available from the Beach and Recreation Department.
