Since it was founded in 1917, the Madison Historical Society has preserved and protected its three Madison properties, the Allis-Bushnell House on the Boston Post Road in the town center, the Lee Academy on the town green and the pre-Revolutionary Smallpox Cemetery. The society, a non-profit and tax-exempt organization, also does research and conducts events that help interpret and promote the history and heritage of the town.
