Weekend Planner: Farmer's Market Friday! Also, World Labyrinth Day, "Grease" Is The Word, Good vs. Evil, And Sally And Ann

Here are some things going on this weekend!

In addition to what's listed below, it is going to be a great weekend to go shopping for spring clothes. Be sure to shop locally first. If you can't find what you like, sure, go elsewhere. But if we want to have these fabulous shops in our fabulous downtown, we have to give them our business. That goes for dresses, purses, and books and tea too. While shopping, if you see something you love and want to let people know about it, post it to our announcements with a picture.

  • From Nancy Kahrimanis: Temple Beth Tikvah will host singer Joshua Nelson for the annual Phyllis Silidker Artist in Residence weekend! Shabbat Services on Friday may 3 and the concert and reception on Saturday May 4 ~ are OPEN TO THE PUBLIC AND FREE OF CHARGE.
  • Also, Joshua Nelson and the Kosher Gospel Singers will join Rabbi Offner on the bimah for our weekly Shabbat service on Friday night, May 3, at 7:30 PM and give a concert of Kosher Gospel on Saturday night, May 4, starting with a cocktail reception at 7 PM, Havdalah service 7:30 PM, concert at 8 PM and a dessert reception to follow.

Farmer's Market! 

The Farmer's Market in Madison re-opens Friday at 3 p.m. and will run through the rest of the spring and summer! From Sabrina Santoro, here's what we can expect to see today: "As of now all the regulars are returning:
  • Robert Guzzo of RCG Fisheries offering fresh caught seafood and shellfish
  • Two Guys from Woodbridge: Perry Hack- a certified organic hydroponic farm which grows a wide variety of salad greens, watercress, arugula, herbs, microgreens, pea shoots, sunflower shoots, wheatgrass and a signature boxed mesclun mix with edible flowers.
  • Staehly Farms with fresh produce
  • Wave Hill Bread with delicious breads
  • Windham Gardens with gorgeous flowers and early corn, and veggies
  • Highland Thistle Farm with a beautiful array of certified naturally grown produce and eggs
  • New Gate Farm with a wide variety of farm fresh produce, berries, corn, delicious pies and baked goods
  • Sankow's Beaver Brook Farm with wholesome dairy, cheese, fresh yogurt and pesto
  • Sunflower Farm with beautiful perennials, herb plants, farm made herbal and milk soaps, body products, local honey and more
  • Four Mile River Farm with natural meats, steaks, hamburgers, nitrate free hotdogs, kielbasa and more
  • Barberry Farm with cut flowers, vegetables, wool, free-range eggs, potted plants, and orchard fruits
  • Summer Hill with delicious baked goods, their famous pot pies and more
  • Staehly farms honey and syrup.

Are you planning to celebrate Cinco de Mayo? Then check this out from Donahue's, "Cinco de Mayo specials all weekend long starting Friday thru Sunday! $5 Margaritas, $6 Nachos, $2.5 Coronas." Our favorite is their queso. Not sure if that will be on special, but even if it's not, it's worth ordering.

"Join us on Saturday, May 4 as we "Walk as One at 1" for World Labyrinth Day. Please meet at the labyrinth at 12:45 pm for a brief introduction before we join a worldwide movement walking the labyrinth for peace and harmony." And, "Grease" is the word this weekend at Daniel Hand High School.

This is a production put on by our immensely talented high school kids. But it's not just for high school kids and their parents. It's for the whole community. Please join them as they celebrate our wonderful homegrown talent! Here are the details: 

""Grease", the high-spirited musical, will be the featured Spring Musical at Madison's Daniel Hand High School this year. Come enjoy the time-honored and well-loved musical, staged by the school's Hands-On-Stage Company. The story line and music is perfect for all ages!

Joy Weaver, the show's Director, and Jessica Littell, the show's Assistant Director, both declare, "GREASE is the word!" Musical direction by Mr. Ron Soja. Pit band direction by Taralyn Bulykt. 

Shows are Thursday, May 2nd at 7pm....Friday, May 3rd at 7pm....and at both 2pm and 7pm on Saturday, May 4th. Tickets will go on sale on April 20th at Daniel Hand High School's main office (245-6350) and at RJ Julia Booksellers, Madison. Tickets are $10 in advance, $15 at the door.
