Weekend Planner: Thank You! Library Book Sale! Free Concert And Movie, And More

Thank you to everyone who started the weekend off early by joining the Madison Beach Hotel, the Madison Chamber of Commerce and all their guests at a bash at the MBH to benefit two businesses, Village Pizza and Madison Wine Shop, that were closed after their building was destroyed by a fire in downtown Madison last week.

The "Madison Unites!" benefited the two family-owned businesses, their employees and the brave volunteers from Madison Hose Company No. 1 and the North Madison Fire Department, whose quick work saved the rest of the block.
In addition to hosting the party, Madison Beach Hotel pledged money to the fund.
Madison Beach Hotel and Guilford Savings Bank have already pledged $1,000! St. Margaret Church's Knights of Columbus and The Source have both pledged $500! The fund is being managed by the Madison Chamber of Commerce. If you want to help and were not able to attend Thursday night, donations can still be made by checks made out to the Chamber. In addition, the Chamber will also be placing donation receptacles in downtown business locations.

Friends of Hammonasset also is helping out with a fundraiser of their own to assist in the Madison Unites initiative.  They will be selling planters, annuals and hanging flowering plants and donating the proceeds to the cause.
