This Weekend: Memorial Day! Help Our Soliders, Antique Show, Movies And More

Happy Memorial Day!

What do you have planned for this weekend? Here are some events going on downtown and nearby. If you'd like to add anything, be sure to add it in the comments section below.

Madison's Memorial Day parade will be
Monday, May 27. It will start at Samson Rock Drive and travel down main street to the memorial green, where a ceremony will take place. There will be two additional ceremonies, at West Cemetery at 11:15 a.m., and at West Wharf, at 12:15 a.m. Thank you to Ed Guenther and others who make this parade possible every year.

Here is information from Madison 911 on road closures:

"Madison’s annual Memorial Day Parade will be held on Monday, May 27, 2013, commencing at 10:00 AM. The parade will proceed west on Route 1 from Samson Rock Drive to the West Cemetery at Jannas Lane. The parade will require road closures, and residents and motorists should expect traffic delays along the parade route between 10:00 AM and noon. Affected areas will include Boston Post Road (Route 1) and intersecting roads between Wall Street/Samson Rock Drive and Jannas Lane.

Motorists are encouraged to seek alternate routes during the parade. Residents/Visitors requiring access to Middle Beach Road, Madison Beach Hotel, or the Madison Surf Club should use East Wharf Road to access those areas during the parade."

On Saturday, stop by the Operation American Soldier Drive at St. Margaret's. Here's how you can help with that.

Lily Juliet will be celebrating their first year in Madison. From 10 to 6 p.m., the store will be offering 15 percent off, and from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., there will be a sculpture opening, sangria, and hula hoops! The store is located at 14 Wall Street.

Madison is lucky to have so many stores with unique and distinctive items, and Lily Juliet is a great example of that. Let's make sure we support them or we'll be stuck shopping at the mall like everyone else.

Also, this weekend, the Chamber of Commerce's annual antique show, which will have more than 75 dealers.

The Robin Hood Festival continues in Guilford.
