The Week Ahead: Tax-Free Shopping Week! Enchanted! John Cafferty! BOS, BOF, And More

We're headed for the (I hate to write this ... ) ... the end of summer. The beginning of this week might be a little cloudy and rainy, but the end of the week looks like it just might be divine. And so set aside some time right now to enjoy this town where we live.

Here's an article from offMetropolis about why people should come visit Madison. "Madison is a gem of a town, located on the bucolic Connecticut shoreline. This tiny village is blessed with some of the cleanest and least utilized beaches on the entire Long Island Sound. It enjoys a classic New England Coastal ambiance that feels light years away from Midtown Manhattan. In truth, you can hop on Metro-North to New Haven, cross the platform to connect to the waiting Shore Line East train and be there in just over two hours. Even if you only have time for an overnight getaway, 24-hours spent here feels like a bona fide escape."

Yup.

And, here's an article from CNN Travel on 22 Can't Miss US Beaches, and Hammonasset Beach State Park in Madison ranks fifth in the country

Sometimes I get annoyed by the summer traffic on I-95, with all those New York and New Jersey and Delaware license plates. And then I think, poor them. They have to go home ... to somewhere other than Madison. More to be pitied than scorned, I guess.

Remember that it's tax-free shopping week, giving you another good reason to love your local.

Here's what's up for this week. Events are listed first and town meetings are listed below that. The Board of Selectmen is meeting again this week and it looks like food trucks will be on the agenda again. There was a spirited discussion about those last time. The Board of Finance also is meeting this week.
