The Week Ahead: Car-maggedon? Beach Stickers, Planning For Hazards, Free Community CPR Class, And More

Amtrak and Metro-North service as of Sunday night remained disrupted between New York and New Haven, CT due to an accident late last week. For the latest information, please check the Metro-North and Amtrak websites. An article in ctmirror.org says that commuters might encounter "car-maggedon" early this week due to extra cars on the road

Memorial Day will be here soon and that means it's time to get your beach sticker if you have not already. Here's some information from the town website to review to find out how, where, and how much it will cost. At Hammonasset, they are currently charging on the weekends, and, on Memorial Day Weekend, will start charging every day. Here's more information about that

The South Central Regional Council of Governments (SCRCOG) is hosting a workshop in Madison Thursday at 6 p.m. to "present, review and discuss the Draft South Central Region Hazard Mitigation Plan." Public participation is invited and encouraged. Please attend if this is of interest to you. "Residents, business owners and town officials of the SCRCOG municipalities are encouraged to participate in these workshops," the posting says. "The purpose of the plan is to reduce the Region’s vulnerability to natural hazards and provide a comprehensive approach to mitigate potential hazards. Mitigation strategies include planning, policy, regulation change, educational programs, infrastructure projects and other activities."
