Thank You Donors, Volunteers, Town Of Madison!

A project many years in the making, the Strong Center includes a new turf field funded by the town, a new set of bleachers funded by the town and donors, and many other amenities funded by donors including the press box and the scoreboards.

The final score in the first home game at the new Strong Feild was Daniel Hand 35, Wilbur Cross 19. And another winner Friday night was the town of Madison, the beneficiary of years of planning, hard work, and the generosity of many supporters who donated time and money to the project.

The Strong Center at the Surf Club includes a new turf field funded by the town, a new set of bleachers funded by the town and donors, lights funded by donations, the sound system funded by donors, and many other amenities funded by donors including the press box and the scoreboards.

The final check for the scoreboards, the fourth installment of $5,000 for a total of $20,000, was delivered Friday night.

Duo Dickinson, one of the lead volunteers on the project, said his group is not finished yet. They have raised and donated to the town $2.2 million. They want $600,000 more to finish a plaza and field house. Signs on the portapotties Friday night said "Want real bathrooms? We need $600,000."

The fans streaming in and celebrating beforehand in the parking lot seemed thrilled with the new facilities, with one group of teenagers deeming it "awesome."
