Madison Life Scout Eric Marsh wants to help build a rest area near the marsh bridge that is part of the Shoreline Greenway Trail in Madison.

We can help him help us by providing funding for his project. He is collecting funds in part through gofundme.com. The link is at http://www.gofundme.com/3o8hzg or http://www.gofundme.com/ericeagle

Already he has raised $355. His goal is $1,500. Can we get him there?

Here's some information about his project from his fundraising site:

Hi Friends,

I want to become an Eagle Scout. I am "on the Trail to Eagle".

I am currently a Life Scout with Troop 491 in Madison, CT. We meet at the American Legion Hall and are the oldest Boy Scout Troop in town. "Troop 1" started in 1910. I am starting my sophomore year at Daniel Hand High School in Madison where I also participate on the Cross Country, Wrestling and Track teams. I am involved in the Engineering Club also.

My Eagle project is to design and orchestrate the building of a "rest area" besides the marsh bridge at the Shoreline Greenway Trail - Madison Segment - at the entrance of Hammonassett State Park.

The Shoreline Greenway Trail group is building a very wide and attractive trail for bikers and hikers that winds around the marshes and the woods in this eastern segment. The trail will eventually extend from Madison to Lighthouse Point in New Haven. The Shoreline Greenway Trail Volunteers recently completed a wide environmentally friendly bridge that goes over the marsh. I will be creating my project next to the bridge.

My "rest area" can be used to sit and relax before or after a hike. Birders can stop to watch activity on the marsh.

Friends, Scouts and family will assist me in clearing dead trees and brush from the area. After the marsh view is enhanced, I will create concrete pads to secure the park benches on. I will build the sign that will list the names of people who have donated to this section of the Shoreline Greenway Trail. The semi circle area will be landscaped with native species. My goal is to complete the project in September, 2013.

I appreciate all financial help. If you like you can use this site to make secured donations by credit card. If you feel more comfortable making a donation by check -- you might make out a check to:
