Madison Read Aloud Seeking Volunteers

Celebrating its 16th year, the Madison Read Aloud Program is a partnership between the business community and the Madison school system.

The Chamber is recruiting 65 community volunteers to spend less than an hour demonstrating the importance of reading to Madison elementary school students (grades K-4).  The reader will be provided with a brief Read Aloud orientation and a beautiful new story book to be given to the classroom.
This year, the Read Aloud Program will take place over three days:May 6, 9 & 10.  While we cannot promise that you will receive the placement you request (if, for instance, you would like to read to your own child's class), we will make every effort to honor your wishes on a first come, first served basis.

Please reply to chamber@madisonct.com no later than April 19 indicating which date(s) you will be available to volunteer.

You will  receive a confirmation email before the event notifying you of your class assignment and the book you will be reading (we provide the books).

The schedule is as follows:

Monday, May 6, 9:00am Jeffrey School, 331 Copse Road,  (Grades K -4)
OR  Monday, May 6 -12:45pm - Jeffrey School, PM Kindergarten only
OR Thursday, May 9 - 9:00am Island Avenue School, 20 Island Avenue (Grades 1-4)
OR   Thursday, May 9 - 9:00am Our Lady of Mercy School, 149 Neck Rd. (Grades K-4)   
OR Friday, May 10 - 9:00am - Ryerson School, 982 Durham Road,  (Grades 1-4) 

Please let us know if would like to be a volunteer reader and let us know if you have a preference for date, school and/or teacher/grade.
