Input Sought for Madison's Hazard Mitigation Plan

Residents of Madison are encouraged to attend a public meeting to be held at the Madison Senior Center on Thursday, May 23rd from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. to discuss a draft hazard mitigation plan for the area. Resident input will help the town prepare for potential impacts from future emergencies like those brought on by storms, flooding, and other natural disasters. We invite residents to share their experiences, discuss their concerns regarding the town’s vulnerability to natural hazard events, and strategize on various approaches the town could take to help mitigate risks.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) requires towns to adopt a hazard mitigation plan in order to have access to federal hazard mitigation funding that may be available following an emergency. Your participation in this important process will ensure the town’s plan accurately reflects the concerns of the community, and will ultimately result in the town’s ability to acquire funding for mitigation projects.

The South Central Regional Council of Governments (SCRCOG) will host this workshop at the Madison Senior Center, 29 Bradley Road, on Thursday, May 23rd from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
