Each student at Island Avenue School is receiving a copy of Night Lights & Pillow Fights by Guy Gilchrist. Mr. Gilchrist is a relative of one of own IAS students and he has generously donated a copy of his book for each student.

Dear Families,

 Kick off your summer reading with a great book. Each student at Island Avenue School (IAS) is receiving a copy of Night Lights & Pillow Fights by Guy Gilchrist. Mr. Gilchrist is a relative of one of own IAS students and he has generously donated a copy of his book for each student. He is also known as the syndicated cartoonist for Nancy and Jim Henson's Muppets. Jonas and I read it last night and our favorite is the titled poem since it brought back some great memories.

 Also, coming home is a Summer Reading Recording Sheet.  Students are to read at least 5 books this summer.  They can read them or they can be read to.  Books, eBooks, audio books, magazines and newspapers all count.  Students should return the Recording Sheet during the first 2 weeks of school.  Please make sure the "Total # of Titles" is completed.  Students may find the suggested reading titles on the following websites:
