Madison Gas Prices Higher Than Connecticut Average

US average gas price is $3.50 per gallon; Connecticut average gas price is $3.63 per gallon; Average in New Haven area is $3.59 per gallon; Some stations in Madison charging more than that, but some of them are full service.


Americans are taking advantage of a to take vacation, and AAA says more than ever are hitting the road this week, driving greater than 50 miles for their plans.

Madison area residents are lucky to have two full-service gas stations in their downtown, and can turn to them to make sure their oil levels are topped off, along with wiper fluid and air tire pressure, while filling up.

Still, at the full-service stations and otherwise, people in the Madison area are paying a little more than residents in other parts of the state.

According to AAA, "On April 6, motorists experienced a year-to-date peak average price of $3.94 per gallon for regular gasoline. The current national average price of regular gasoline is $3.50 per gallon, 44 cents lower than the April peak and 16 cents less than this time last year."

The average price for a gallon of gas in the greater New Haven area is $3.59 for regular, accorrding to AAA's Fuel Gauge Report. That compares to a Connecticut average of $3.63 per gallon for regular.

The lowest Regular gas price is $3.64 of Mobil located at 1334 Boston Post Rd, Madison, CT 06443. The highest Regular gas price is $3.69 of Shell - Madison Henny Penny located at 646 Boston Post Rd, Madison, CT 06443.

MapQuest Gas Prices provided the following prices:

  • Cumberland Farms, 633 Boston Post Road: $3.60
  • Sunoco, 1276 Durham Road: $3.67
  • Madison Mini Mart, 181 Boston Post Road (on the west side): $3.70

While more folks are leaving home for the holiday, they plan to spend less, AAA reported. "Median spending is expected to be $749, a 7 percent decrease compared to the expected median spending of intended holiday travelers ($807) in 2011."
