The Madison town green was once again packed for the annual Concert on the Green Saturday night. Presented by Madison Cultural Arts and sponsored by Guilford Savings Bank, the concert drew more than 4,000 people, organizers estimated.

The 30th Annual Concert on the Green started  at 5:00 p.m. with the Shoreline Youth Symphony Orchestra, followed by the Manchester Pipe Band plays and the Wallingford Symphony Orchestra. Special guest performer Jim Beloff, America’s ukulele author, arranger and performer, not only played with the orchestra, he also led a play-along and sing-along with with other ukulele artists and enthusiasts.

As night fell, there were little children dancing wildly to songs from the musical "Oklahoma," teenagers holding hands and skipping across the town green, and adults hugging and chatting with friends they had not seen since last year's concert.

Thanks to the many sponsors and benefactors. Thanks to the Madison police for not only working during the event, but also for participating in it. And thanks many times over to Madison Cultural Arts for working so hard to bring this together for the thousands of people who really appreciate the opportunity to hear great music while relaxing with friends, family, and neighbors.
