Concert On The Green, Once Again, Perfect Way To Bring Holiday Weekend To An End

Thousands of shoreline residents, along with a few from even further away, packed the Madison town green Saturday to enjoy the Concert on the Green.

A labor of love brought to us by a host of dedicated volunteers, the concert featured the Shoreline Youth Symphony Orchestra, The Manchester Pipe Ban, The and the Wallingford Symphony Orchestra.

In addition to patriotic favorites like God Bless America, Stars & Stripes Forever, and the all time favorite 1812 Overture, the concert also featured a salute to the Big Bands, classics by Duke Ellington, and a salute to Ol' Blue Eyes, Frank Sinatra.

The showmobile, all gussied up with new paint thanks to the volunteer efforts of Art Conroy, served as a platform for all this fun, as the volunteers who have worked for months, and some for years, continued to volunteer their time during the concert to make sure that everyone had their glossy programs and that people remembered to pull up their ropes around their picnic area so no one would trip.

Thank you to all of those volunteers, including Bill Brown, Vitty O'Toole, and Liz and Duo Dickinson, along with Alix and Joshua Copel, Andrew DeBiccari, Rich Evans, Kathleen Bidney-Singlewald, Kerry Holmes, Frank Kling, and Dean Singlewald and others.

And thank you to North Madison Volunteer Fire Co. for lighting up the green at the end of the show so we could clean up and make our way to our cars safely.

Guilford Savings Bank was this year's corporate sponsor. The town of Madison was the premier patron, and Jack and Helen Davis were the major benefactors.

Next year's concert will be Saturday, July 5th. Save the date!
