Bummer! Chatfield Hollow State Park Swimming Closed Through July 4th

The park is open to picnicking, hiking and other activities. Retest results will be available Thursday.

The Department of Energy and Environmental Protection saidTuesday that they have closed the swim area at Chatfield Hollow State Park in Killingworth "as a result of water quality tests showing bacteria levels that exceed state standards for swimming." The swimming area will remain closed for the 4th of July holiday on Wednesday.

The DEEP plans to retest the waters and have results available on Thursday.

Chatfield Hollow does remain open for picnicking, hiking and other activities – but no swimming until test results show the water is safe.

All of the other inland designated state park swim areas are open and will be open for the holiday and the weekend, according to the DEEP.
