4th of July In Madison Guide From The Madison Chamber of Commerce

The Concert on the Green, the parade, the fireworks, Where's Waldo, a reminder about driving safely, along with a reminder about beach passes and how to park downtown so you won't get a ticket.

The Annual will start at 5pm Saturday, June 30 with the Shoreline Youth Symphony, followed by the Ancient Mariners, then the Wallingford Symphony Orchestra at 7pm.  This annual event is sponsored by Madison Cultural Arts.  Get there early (but not before 6am!) to reserve your spot, or contact Rich Evans at 203-215-4362 to make a donation & secure a place closer to the stage. Help for the concert is always welcome, too, so call Rich if you'd like to volunteer.

WHERE'S WALDO CELEBRATES 25 YEARS! 

On Sunday, July 1, Waldo-spotters will set off on a hunt to find our elusive guy hidden in twenty business establishments in Madison. Hundreds of eagle-eyed Waldo spotters will be eligible for prizes culminating on July 31 with a grand ceremony held at RJ Julia's from 4-6pm!  Find 16 of the 25 Waldos, collect a card from each business that you find him, and turn them into RJ Julia's to receive a Where's Waldo button (1st 100) and an entry into the Grand Prize- a lovely 6 book hardcover set!  Five 1st prizes will also be awarded!   Don't delay- only the first 100 participants will get the button!  Here are the participants (Each of them a Chamber member, by the way!):

Wednesday the 4th of July features the , commencing at 11am.  The parade route includes the Boston Post Road in downtown Madison and ends at the Surf Club.     

will take place Wednesday, July 4 beginning at 9:30pm. (Rain date: Friday, July 6). Fireworks easily viewed from many points along the shore, including the Surf Club.   Please note that the fireworks are funded by private and commercial tax deductible donations.  The Fireworks Committee is asking citizens and businesses to consider a donation to help keep this great Madison tradition going.

Tax-deductible donations can be easily made on line through the fireworks website where you can also find more informaion abot parking, shuttle buses, etc.  You can mail your donation to:

As we head into one of the busiest weeks of the year, please keep the following in mind:

  • School's out - which means lots of youngsters are out jogging or riding bikes or skateboards, so please drive slowly & carefully.
  • Beach passes are now required 7 days  week at Madison beaches.  They're obtainable at the Madison Beach & Recreation office at the Town Campus from 8:30am to 4pm.  Daily passes may be purchased by residents at the Surf Club for $10, and can be applied to an annual pass within a week of purchase.
  •  The TWO HOUR PARKING limit is being enforced - so please be mindful of where you are parking downtown!  If you plan to park for a longer period of time, please use the lot behind the Post Office, or anywhere in the Stop & Shop Plaza or CVS Plaza lots.
