Rules for Positive Political Talk Among our Citizenry

Growing up in Connecticut I can remember the days of politicians fighting hard to win their party's nomination and then the respective Party uniting behind their candidate and working hard to elect them. After the election, candidates no longer referred to themselves by their Party label, but by the title of the job the people elected them to do. Once taking the oath of office an official represented all the people and voted the Will of the People, not special interests. We need to return to that concept so we can fix what isn't working in our current system. My goal for this blog is to give you a place to politely discuss politics without blaming one side or the other and without personal attacks on those writing.

Daniel Webster every July 4th would go to the Boston Town Green and stand on a small platform to call together citizens to read the Constitution and then discuss the issues of the day. This blog is a virtual platform to discuss our current issues and to try to come up with viable solutions. We need young people to be  involved in politics because it impacts their future. And, we need those who long ago stopped voting. It is only with an active citizenry that we can return our great nation to a state prosperity and freedom for our citizens. That means everyone joining in to come up with the solutions. With practice, civil discourse is possible.
