The Last Thanksgiving Game at Strong Field!
Right after the Tigers' playoff game next week, the equipment you see at the east end of the field this Wednesday night will commence demolition of the field house and the construction of the Strong Center project. Do come to the game on Wednesday, November 21 at 7:00 pm for a special event celebrating the current Strong Field!
The Town and the Strong Center Board have raised almost 1.6 million dollars!
This covers all new turf field, including a new softball field, all new lighting, and moving the existing stands. The Strong Center Board and the Town think it is extremely important that we raise additional private funding to do two very important elements in Phase 1 of the overall project that has to be finished no later than May 1st, 2013:
- The creation of new stands (versus relocating the old stands).
- Foundations for the new Field Houses.
If we do not do these two activities in Phase One, they will cost more when we do them in the out years. Do note that the entire project will be executed - we have commitments of over half a million dollars more from donors who cannot donate at this time, but have promised they will, and grants are being applied for regularly. And feel free to contact Governor Malloy's office at (860) 566-4840 to show support for our STEAP Grant proposal (which they are currently reviewing).
Members of our Board will be filtering through the stands at the Thanksgiving game asking for donations, but we also need your support!!!
