Schumann Series 2012 Starts With Live Reptile Show Aug. 3 At Hammonasset

The life of Robert Schmann, an avid environmentalist and strong support of Hammonasset, will also be honored at upcoming Hammonasset Jamboree Event in October. Remember, you can get into Hammo free after 6:30 p.m.

 

The Schumann series, named after avid environmentalist Robert Schumann, who also was a strong supporter of Hammonasset, will start August 3rd with a live reptile show by Ranger Russ Miller.

The series will run on a series of Fridays and all events are at 7 p.m. at Hammonasset. Admission to Hammonasset is free after 6:30 p.m., and parking is free. The full schedule of the series is below.

This is the 6th year of this series of presentations that honors Robert Schumann of Madison, Ct.  Schumann was an avid birder, a former member of the board of the National Audubon, and strong supporter of Friends of Hammonasset. The Life of Robert Schumann will be honored by the Hammonasset Jamboree event  to be held October 6th and 7th 2012 at Hammonasset Beach State Park.

The programs will take place Friday evenings  at  Meigs Point Nature Center at Hammonasset Beach State Park.  These programs are generously sponsored by Citizens Bank and presented by Friends of Hammonasset , a 501(c) 3 non profit organization. Light refreshments will be provided.

August 3rd at 7PM Live Reptile Show by Russ Miller, Director of Meigs Point Nature Center

August 10th  at 7PM   Live Exotic Creatures presented by Beardsley Zoo        

August 17th at 7PM  Demonstration and instruction of the Atlatl by Gary Nolf of the World Atlatl Association and Friends of the Office of State Archaeology

 August 24th  at 7PM Live Birds of Prey Presentation by A Place Called Hope-Todd Secki and Christine Cummins-Secki
