Hand Will Find No Friends At Amity

The Daniel Hand Tiger football team travels to Woodbridge tonight at 7 p.m. to take on the Amity Spartans.

The going will get tougher as the Tigers attempt to remain undefeated after a solid performance in a 41-20 win against Lyman Hall last Saturday night .

On Saturday, the Tigers started out slow, but then scored four times in the second quarter to put the game out of reach.  In the first half, Senior Kevin Frey had 140 yards rushing with two touchdowns and Senior Captain Dan Ives picked off a Trojan pass and ran it in 42 yards for a score.  Hand led 34-7 at the break and finished their scoring on a 31 yard pass from Henry Foye to Nick Vitale in the second half.

Amity evened their record to 1-1 after a lopsided 47-8 victory over East Haven last week.  Amity was led by their quarterback, Tyler Valle, who rushed for three touchdowns and passed for another.

Patch Player of the Week

Senior running back Kevin Frey is our selection for this week.  He carried the load for the Tigers rushing for 170 yards and two touchdowns.  Of course he couldn’t have done that without the outstanding play of his offensive line; Mitch Pasqualoni, Joe Demichele, Victor Buchetto, Dan Padelli and Cam Gravina.

Around the SCC

A lot of eyes will be on Palmer Field this week as Cheshire travels to Middletown to take on the number one ranked Xavier Falcons.  Cheshire is coming off an impressive win against Hillhouse and has a chance to garner some number one votes of its own with a win over the Falcons.  Cheshire has arguably one of the toughest schedules in the state.  They start their tough SCC Division 1 East schedule (Hand, West Haven, ND West Haven and Wilbur Cross) next week against Hand, but their out of division opponents this year include: Hillhouse, Xavier, Shelton and Southington.
