Hand High School Grad Named To All-Conference Team

Kate Clawson, a senior at Muhlenberg College in Allentown, PA, played in all 26 games and earned a spot in the starting rotation for the second half of the season.

 

Editor's Note: Daniel Hand High School grad Kate Clawson has garnered several honors during her time playing for Muhlenberg's basketball team. A senior, she was named to the All-Centennial Conference honorable mention and was named to the Lehigh Valley Small College Basketball "unsung hero" team. Allentown, Pa. – Senior co-captain Kate Clawson (Madison, Conn./Daniel Hand) of the Muhlenberg women’s basketball team earned All-Centennial Conference honorable mention.

Clawson played in all 26 games, earning a spot in the starting rotation for the second half of the season. She was second on the team with 9.2 points per game, averaged 4.5 rebounds and shot 51-for-56 from the free throw line. She nailed 31 three-pointers and led the conference in with a three-point shooting percentage of .477.

Clawson scored a career-high 23 points and grabbed nine rebounds in a 68-59 win against Haverford and played a huge role in Muhlenberg’s six-game winning streak at the end of the season, averaging 15.7 points over that six-game span.

In December she was named to the Lehigh Valley Small College Basketball “unsung hero” team.

The Mules finished the season atop the conference with an average of 65.3 points per game, ranked second in field-goal percentage (.381) and were third in field-goal percentage defense (.325).

Muhlenberg ended its 2012-13 campaign with a 17-9 record overall and a 14-6 mark in conference play. The Mules returned to the CC playoffs for the eighth consecutive year where they fell to Swarthmore in a semifinal matchup that was decided in the final minute of play.
