Two Madison Students Graduate from Union College

Union College's 219th Commencement exercises were on Sunday.

The following local residents recently graduated from Union College during its 219th Commencement exercises on Sunday, June 16:

Kevin Fodor graduated and received a Bachelor of Arts degree. Fodor is a Political Science major.

Blake Sperry graduated and received a Bachelor of Arts degree. Sperry is a Political Science major.

Before the 472 Union College graduates received their degrees, civil rights leader U.S. Rep. John Lewis told the graduates to "find a way to get in the way."

"You must leave here and get in trouble," Lewis added. At age 23, he was a keynote speaker at the march in August 1963 where 250,000 people gathered at the Lincoln Memorial to hear Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s iconic "I Have a Dream" speech.

Union College, founded in 1795 as the first college chartered by the New York State Board of Regents, offers programs in the liberal arts and engineering to 2,100 undergraduates of high academic promise and strong personal motivation.
