The Senior Auction, the biggest fundraiser for Nite in Hand, will take place on Friday, May 20th at the DHHS Cafeteria.
"The Nite in Hand Senior Auction has been a tradition at , and is the biggest fundraiser for an all night party that begins several hours after for only the senior class," explains Jennifer Eisele, who co-chairs the Senior Auction with Jane Cardarelli and Beth Berestecky.
Graduating seniors donate their time in various ways — from sports lessons, to musical performances, to birthday parties, to yard work. Local merchants and those in the community have donated goods and gift certificates for the silent auction as well as big prizes for the live auction.
“There are some AMAZING items this year and the students have outdone themselves with creativity!,” says Nite in Hand co-chair Dale Lehman.
At Nite in Hand, “the idea is that it is the last time you will be all together as a class. No guests are invited. It is also is a way to keep our graduates safe, as it is a drug free, alcohol free night,” Eisele says.
"This year's class has been especially excited and motivated to raise money for their Nite in Hand!,” she said and added, “Seniors have stepped up to be the Master of Ceremonies for the evening and, with these warm, outgoing personalities, the evening will sure to be a successful, fun-filled evening!”
As of this writing, there are over 60 Silent Auction items and 25 Live Auction Items.
The doors open at 7:15pm on May 20th. The silent auction begins at 7:30pm followed by a live auction.
For those who can not attend but would like to support the graduates, a new game called “POPLUCK” is being offered. For $10 a balloon, a senior will deliver balloons to your home, and when you pop each balloon, a message falls out with a prize.
“Prizes range from a beautiful bracelet from , a brunch for two at to a coupon good for two Good Humor bars from Papa Joe!”
