From Madison School Superintendent Thomas Scarice:

Dear Members of the J. Milton Jeffrey School Community:

I am pleased to announce that on June 14, 2012 the Madison Board of Education appointed Kathryn Hart as principal of the J. Milton Jeffrey Elementary School. Ms. Hart has served the Madison Public Schools for 16 years in various roles.  Ms. Hart was originally hired by the district in 1996 as a Grade 5 teacher at the Jeffrey Elementary School where she also served as Mathematics Specialist. In 2006, Ms. Hart was appointed to the position of Assistant Principal at the Dr. Robert H. Brown Middle School. Ms. Hart is proud and excited to rejoin the Jeffrey Elementary School family.

Let me share with you the very thorough and comprehensive selection process that Ms. Hart endured to become our new Jeffrey Elementary School Principal. Ms. Hart successfully completed three interview sessions and responded to questions and scenarios from twenty people throughout the selection process. The Level I and Level II interview teams were comprised of Jeffrey Elementary School staff members, administrators, Board of Education members and Jeffrey Elementary School parent representatives.

Ms. Hart will assume her new position on July 30, 2012.  She is scheduled to meet with Mona Goodman over the next few weeks to learn more about the Jeffrey Elementary School and the exciting initiatives and opportunities that await her. In fact, Ms. Hart in scheduled to visit Jeffrey Elementary School on Monday, June 18th to meet the staff and students. A casual “meet and greet” with Jeffrey School parents will be scheduled in August.

We are honored and proud to have Ms. Hart as a member of the district’s administrative team and look forward to the exceptional contributions that she will continue to make as the J. Milton Jeffrey Elementary School Principal and throughout the district.

In closing, thank you for all you do to support public education in Madison.  I hope you enjoy a wonderful summer.

Regards,

Thomas R. Scarice
Superintendent
