First Day Of School (sigh) Is Monday, August 29

First day of vacation is that Friday!

Definitely NOT ready. I really wish school started after Labor Day like it used to... It just feels wrong having the kids start school in August!

I know, it seems that way. And it also feels wrong to have them going to school late in June. And they have a certain number of days the kids have to go to school, and they have to plan for snow days. Then there is the whole issue of why we are still on essentially an agricultural calendar, when the closest most kids get to a farm is the local farm stand. I don't envy the person charged with determining the calendar, there are so many factors. But I agree, if I were a kid, I'd be bummed about going back to school at the end of August. At least they have a long weekend to look forward to at the end of the week ...
