Raising Monarchs

Why send away for a kit when you can find them in the wild?  Learn from a member of the Monarch Teacher Network and Connecticut Butterfly Association, how to find caterpillars and monarch eggs, and raise them to adulthood.  We will talk about the monarch’s life cycle and migration, food and nectar plants, tagging and more.  We will definitely venture into Bauer’s fields to search for caterpillars and eggs, so dress appropriately for the weather! Appropriate for families, scout leaders, teachers -- badge and classroom extensions can be discussed if there is interest.  All ages.  Children under age 10 must be accompanied by an adult.  FREE but must pre-register at Madison Beach & Recreation, 203-245-5623 or www.madisonct.org/bauer/programs.htm
