Focus Group: School Superintendent Search

As the school system embarks on a search for a new superintendent, the Madison Board of Education is seeking input from members of the public about the "personal qualities, leadership characteristics, professional experience, and qualifications that they would most value."

The school board is working the the C.E.S Executive Search Team of Trumbull to find the district's next superintendent. With the help of CES, the board will be conducting focus group sessions on Tuesday, Oct. 4 for parents and members of the community. One session will start at 1 p.m. and the other will start at 7 p.m. Both will be held in the Hammonasset Room at town campus, 10 Campus Drive, and both will be about an hour and will be facilitated by a C.E.S. consultant.

An online survey, for those not able to make the sessions, also will be offered to residents. In addition, C.E.S. will hold other group sessions for other groups including adminstrators, members of the school district's administrative council, teachers, students, and public officials.

Anyone unable to attend a Superintendent Search focus group is encouraged to complete a brief online survey available on the Madison Public Schools website from October 1 through midnight on October 8. The survey is anonymous and all staff, students, parents, civic and community group leaders, and members of the community are urged to participate.

Data collected in focus group sessions, along with the survey results, will be assessed by the C.E.S. Search Team and will inform the Board’s evaluation of potential superintendent candidates.
