Anita Rutlin, interim superintendent of Madison Public Schools has announced that Paul Coppola, a teacher at Daniel Hand High School, and Grace Driscoll, a student, have received the following awards:

The Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) annually recognize the nation’s top elementary, junior high school and high school teachers who promote America’s history, traditions, and institutions. Paul Coppola, Daniel Hand High School Social Studies Teacher, was named High School Teacher of the Year by the VFW District 2.
Voice of Democracy Competition

The Voice of Democracy Competition provides high school freshmen, sophomores, juniors and seniors the opportunity to write and record a broadcast script on a patriotic theme, competing for more than $2.5 million in college scholarships and incentives. Grace Driscoll achieved Third Place in this competition.
