Country School Students Raise Money For Cancer Hospital
Proceeds from last weekend's bike ride event support the Smilow Cancer Hospital at Yale-New Haven
seventh-graders planned a bike ride fundraiser at , which took place this past weekend, the New Haven Register reports, and all proceeds from their event help out the Smilow Cancer Hospital at Yale-New Haven.
Country School student adviser Beth Coyne told The Register about how the seventh-graders selected their cause:

“For every class in our school, we encourage the children to be involved in some kind of community service project,” Coyne said in the article. “We have a couple of families that have been touched by cancer, and I think any person these days can say that they know someone who has been affected by cancer, so the kids immediately said ‘we’d like to donate money to cancer.’”

They also were involved in event planning, the article says, noting that they helped secure permits and police security for the ride.
