Add colorful foliage to your landscape to make it pop!
Adding colorful foliage of different hues in your landscape can make a big difference.
If you'd like to add a little pizazz to your landscape, think about adding some plants that have great foliage color. Foliage doesn't have to be varying shades of green. There's chartreuse, burgundy and even yellow-orange!
Although different shades and textures of green can really add interest to a landscape, there's nothing like the wow-factor you get from colorful foliage. It can really make your landscape stand out in a great way!
Take a look at how varying foliage colors of mint, chartreuse and burgundy really add beautiful contrast in this Madison garden. Too frequently when we think of color in the landscape, we think of flowers. While flowers are certainly the frosting on the cake as I always say, the role played by colored foliage shouldn't be overlooked. Contrasting foliage can add striking drama to the garden.

Some of my favorite foliage plants are Heuchera varieties, Japanese ferns, grasses, Ninebarks and False Cypress to name a few.
A wide variety of choices are always available, and many plants like heuchera, or commonly called 'Coral Bells', tolerate a fair amount of both sun and shade.

Color can make a huge impact in your landscaping. There's nothing like some colorful foliage to brighten up a drab spot. A variety of foliage colors can really draw your eye to a particular area, which is great if you want to bring attention to an area of your yard that is either a focal point, or often overlooked. I promise you that area will be the star of your yard!
Vibrant colored foliage really sings in a shady spot and can really give a dark corner new life. Next time you go to the nursery, along with looking at the flowers, pay attention to the foliage and think about how you might use those great colors in your landscape.
