Mail-In Voter Registration Deadline Tuesday, Walk-In Voter Registration Deadline Feb. 18 For Feb. 22 Special Election

Joan Walker Running Against Noreen Kokoruda; Madison Property Owners Association Sponsoring Thursday Debate

The mail in voter registration deadline to participate in the Feb. 22nd special election is Tuesday. Voter registrations that are mailed in must be postmarked by that day, according to Alma Carroll, Madison director of town services.

Walk-in voter registration can be done until Feb 18th, she said, clarifying information distributed earlier by the town and state. She also said that absentee ballots must be received by mail by Feb. 22nd, the day of the election. But absentee ballots dropped off at town hall must be delivered by the end of the business day the Friday before the special election, Feb. 18th, because Monday, Feb. 21st is a town hall holiday.

Later this week, on Thursday, the Madison Property Owners Association has scheduled a debate between the candidates for the vacant 101st District House seat.

Noreen Kokoruda, a Republican, and Joan Walker, a Democrat, are running for the spot, which was vacated by Deb Heinrich, who was tapped for a cabinet level post by Gov. Dannel Malloy's adminstration.

The debate will be Thursday, Feb. 10th at 7:30 p.m. at Memorial Town Hall on Meeting House Lane by the town green. The election is scheduled for Feb. 22, the same week as Madison school vacation. Absentee ballots are now available in the town clerk's office.
