Town's Prescription Drug Discount Program Proves Popular

In the first three months, there have been 275 claims, saving participants a total of more than $$12,000

 

The town of Madison is offering a prescription drug discount through the Connecticut Conference of Municipalities (CCM) and it has proven popular for the first months it has been offered. 

There have been 275 claims on 152 cards in December, January, and February. The price savings have been $12,072.99. The average price savings has been $43.90 and the percent price savings is about 43 percent, according to information sent to the town from Gina Calabro, Director of Member Services and Marketing, for the CCM.

ProAct, which administers the program, says the card can be used by those who do not have insurance, or by those who do have insurance that does not cover a certain drug prescription. "This card cannot be used in conjunction with another insurance program in order to discount your co-pays or deductible," ProAct says. 

Highlights of the program include: 

  • Available to all Connecticut State residents regardless of age, income, or current health coverage.
  • FREE for Your City / Town and FREE for participants.
  • Every prescription medication, including some pet medications, are eligible for a discount.
  • Simply present your discount card at a local participating pharmacy when filling a new prescription and start saving.
