State Rep. Kokoruda Says She's Pleased With Revisions To School Reform Bill

Bill increases funding for preschool programs, cuts from charter schools

 

A bipartisan vote passed a state education reform bill, cutting back on charter school funding and shifting the money to preschool programs, the New Haven Register reported.

According to the article, said she's "pleased" with the bill's changes.

The Republican lawmaker also said she was "shocked" that her party wasn't involved in the negotiations, The Register reported, and she hopes this changes in the future.

The bill also calls for the reforms of Connecticut's 10 lowest-performing schools, the article says, noting that this process would begin in the fall.
