Stamp Prices To Rise 1-Cent This Month

U.S. Postal Service rates are set to increase on Jan. 27 so now's the time to buy your "Forever" stamps.

 

Here's one more cost increase to deal with in 2013.

The cost to mail a letter will go up to 46 cents later this month when postal rate changes take effect, according to the U.S. Postal Service.

Stamp prices will increase one cent, from 45 cents to 46 cents, to mail 1-ounce letters, effective Jan. 27. The cost for letters weighing more than 1 ounce will stay the same, at 20 cents for each additional ounce, according to an announcement from the postal service.

Postcard stamps will also see a 1-cent increase, from 32 cents to 33 cents. Letters under 1 ounce mailed anywhere internationally will cost $1.10, the announcement states.

Those looking to save a few cents might want to head on down to the post office in Madison, or to the local Stop & Shop, and stock up on the postal service's Forever stamps (costing 45 cents until the 1-cent increase on Jan. 27), which are usable even after stamp prices change.
