NWS On The Weekend Weather: "Less Of A Chance Of Rain"

If you are going to the Durham Fair, your best bet weather-wise, might be Saturday evening and Sunday morning, but keep an eye on the forecast, but it likely will continue to change.

With the Durham Fair set to launch at 4 p.m. Thursday for the weekend, it looks like the weather forecast might ... just might ... be shifting towards more favorable conditions than the rain, rain, rain we've been reading about and dreading all week.

I mean, who wants to eat soggy fried dough? Ugh. And rain + cotton candy = 1 big mess.

The National Weather Service said Thursday morning that, after some morning rain, the skies are expected to clear somewhat. But that clearning is expected to be only short-lived as clouds begin to push their way back in to the area. We could be "socked in" with clouds all day.

"But the pivot point will be so close that the forecast indicates only mostly cloudy due to the uncertainty," the NWS says. Rain is expected, particularly late Thursday night through Friday.

As for Friday through Wednesday? The forecast "has done a complete about face with the upcoming forecast this weekend, with less of a chance of rain and a better chance of dry, mild conditions."

So far there is only a small chance of thunderstorms. But if you do go out and hear thunder, don't be foolish and stay outside. Seek shelter inside. And keep an eye on the current forecast for the latest. Here is the link for weather in Madison, and here is the link for weather in nearby Durham, where the fair will be held.
