New Poll Shows Murphy Pulling Away From McMahon

One day before the election the latest poll indicates that Democrat Chris Murphy is widening his lead in the U.S. Senate race.

A new poll shows Democrat Chris Murphy now has a 9-point lead over his Republican rival Linda McMahon, according to latest report by Public Policy Polling.

The group says its latest poll shows Murphy leading McMahon 52-43.

“In Connecticut our final poll finds Chris Murphy with his largest lead all year at 9 points,” the group says on its website. “He's increased his advantage by 5 points since two weeks ago when he was ahead just 48-44. Linda McMahon, already unpopular, has just become more disliked by voters in the state over the last couple weeks. Only 37% have a favorable opinion of her to 52% with an unfavorable one. For a Republican to win in Connecticut requires their party to be strongly unified around them. But McMahon is losing 19% of the GOP vote to Murphy, a good deal more than the 14% of Democrats she's picking up. McMahon is also performing terribly with women, trailing Murphy 55-39 with them.”

McMahon calls the poll results a "desperate stunt" intended to discourage her supporters, according to the blog Capitol Watch.

A McMahon spokesman said Public Policy Polling is "nothing more than a front for the Democrats, and this is a sad stunt. Our supporters won’t be deterred by the Democrats’ desperation," the blog says.

I think Linda cooked her own goose when she ran those TV ads wherein she appeared to be endorsing Obama by saying she could easily work alongside him. What a rookie mistake! She quickly replaced that ad with the one stating only that she is an independent thinker but the damage was already done. Chris Murphy got an early Christmas present. $77 million just doesn't buy you common sense I guess.

Public Policy Polling was established by Democratic pollster Dean Debnam, the firm's current president and chief executive officer. Their election polls have been commissioned by the liberal web-site DailyKos. This is another ridiculous last-minute desperate attempt by the Democrats to combat the overwhelming sentiment in Connecticut that Chris Murphy fell asleep at the wheel. Now he wants the keys to the car again. He missed 80% of those key Finance Committee meetings while our taxes continued to increase, along with our unemployment rate. Murphy's tax and spend ideology is destroying our economy. It's time for a change. We need someone who will fight for CT and vote to abolish Obamacare and all the other job-killing Democratic proposals. Vote for Linda!

That ad was pretty cool. Guess I related because I'm voting for Obama and McMahon.

All the pre election "polling" in my opinion doesn't make a difference and is part of the problem with politics. The only pole that matters is on Election Day. All the other polls make the candidates flip flop on there positions to try and get more votes. I think the moral of the story should be go vote tommorow !
