Malcarne, Roscetti Arraigned In Alpaca Slayings

The Middletown Press has reported that Shawn Richard Malcarne and Kyle Christopher Roscetti were arraigned on Wednesday, April 18 in Middletown Superior Court after turning themselves in for the in Essex.

“This is a matter of killing innocent animals for pure sport,” Judge Lisa K. Morgan was quoted as saying, in the Middletown Press article.

The men, both of Westbrook, turned themselves in on Tuesday, April 17.

According to the article, Malcarne, 23, was charged with third-degree burglary, conspiracy to commit third-degree burglary, fifth-degree larceny, conspiracy to commit fifth-degree larceny, conspiracy to commit animal cruelty and conspiracy to commit first-degree criminal mischief.

Roscetti, 21, was charged with third-degree burglary, conspiracy to commit third-degree burglary, fifth-degree larceny, conspiracy to commit fifth-degree larceny, animal cruelty, first-degree criminal trespass and first-degree criminal mischief, the report says.

Roscetti is scheduled to appear back in court on May 8, the Middletown Press is reporting, and Malcarne on May 18.
