Madison Candlelight Vigil For Newtown Tragedy 6pm Sunday At First Congregational Church On The Green

Madison First Selectman Fillmore McPherson said a candlelight vigil is planned for Sunday at 6 p.m. at the First Congregational Church on the town green, at 26 Meetinghouse Lane, in Madison, CT.

McPherson said the vigil is being planned to express support and sympathy for the tragedy Friday .

McPherson said the vigil is being planned by the town, with support from the town church community, and that candles will be provided.

McPherson said everyone is welcome to attend.

Also, announced on Saturday was a prayer service at North Madison Congregational Church for Saturday evening:

All are welcome to join us in a prayer service for the victims of the Newtown, CT massacre and their families. The service will take place from 5:00 to 5:30 PM, but the church will be open from 4:00 to 6:00 PM if you wish to sit in the quiet space of our sanctuary. We are located at 1271 Durham Road, Madison, CT on just south of the Route 79/Route 80 Circle.

Some town residents are also considering conducting an informal gathering on the Madison town green, by the Christmas tree, Saturday following the living Nativity at the Lutheran Church. The living Nativity is at 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. Saturday.
