Madison Begins Charter Revision Process

Thirteen areas are being looked at.

Madison has begun the process of reviewing whether changes to its charter are necessary. A seven member Charter Revision Committee met Monday night.

There are 13 areas for possible review including whether a town meeting is necessary and whether a quorum is needed for the town budget referendum, the New Haven Register reports.

First Selectman Fillmore McPherson told the Register’s Sean Carlin that just 7.6 percent of registered voters turned out to vote on the budget, and questioned whether a minimum requirement of 12 to 15 percent makes more sense.
