Election 2012: East Haddam, Haddam and Killingworth Results

Republican Ziobron takes 34th in East Haddam. Green Party candidate Schlag lagging behind in the 33rd. Democrat Vicino takes the lead in the 35th.

Republican Melissa Ziobron has unofficially taken the lead over her opponent, Democrat Christopher Goff in the 34th Assembly District race. Preliminary results show Ziobron leading Goff by a vote of 2,581 to 1,855 in East Haddam and 3,321 to 2,991 in East Hampton. Ziobron is also reported to have led Goff by 65 votes in Colchester.

Local election officials said they still needed to count absentee ballots, but those vote tallies were not expected to erase Ziobron's lead.

Green Party candidate Melissa Schlag unoficially pulled together 488 votes in East Hampton, 293 in Portland and 602 in East Haddam, but it doesn't look like it will be enough for her to win the 33rd Senatorial District race.

Republican Art Linares is unofficially leading the 33rd with 2153 votes in East Haddam, 2093 in East Hampton and 3480 in Portland. Democrat Jim Crawford unoficially tallied 1684 in East Haddam, 2347 in East Hampton and 2132 in Portland.

Results from other towns in the 33rd Senatorial District are still being tallied.

In a vote of 6,323 to 5,202, Democrat Tom Vicino takes the lead and the position over his challenger, Republican John Samperi to win 35th State Representative seat. The 35th district includes the towns of Clinton, Killingworth and parts of Westbrook.

The people in our region are grateful that the thousands and thousands of signs Samperi littered the landscape with was not enough to obscure his past. Thank you, Patch, for allowing us to educate the voters. I think the links to the past New Haven Register articles (re. racism impeachment) and other local papers (Michelle Nuhn incident) went a long way. Congratulations Mr. Vicino!

Losers should be required to leave the town, district or state depending on the position sought.
