“Our small towns are wonderful and have given a lot to me and my family.  Now it is time for me to give back,” says Dwyer.  “I want to serve Madison and Durham in the Connecticut House of Representatives and work hard to tackle some of the issues that need more of our attention.”

“My goal is to make Connecticut a better place to work and live.  With a background in tax law, I am keenly aware of the difficulties our small towns face when our school systems are funded mainly through the property tax.  It is particularly difficult for our seniors and it is important to me that our communities remain diverse and welcoming to people of all ages,” says Dwyer. “Working for a small business, I also see the challenges small businesses face when taxes climb.  We can and should do better to help our community thrive.”

“Preservation of our open spaces and precious natural resources will also be a focus for me.  We are blessed with many differing habitats in our towns and it is important for us to recognize and to protect them,” he adds.

“In addition, I am particularly interested in the education system in our state as a whole and how it relates to our economy. We can do much better at all levels, including our higher education system.  With our talent and drive for success, Connecticut should be a leader in these areas.”

who has also declared her candidacy for the seat, is stepping down for personal reasons.  “I have decided that this is not the best time for me to run for office,” says Lorenz.  “I am so pleased that David Dwyer is interested in serving as State Representative and I am in full support of his candidacy.”
