After These Gorgeous Sunny Days, Unsettled Weather Due To Return

After a run of several gorgeous sunny days with unseasonably high temperatures, unsettled weather is due to return to the region later this week. A high pressure system over eastern Canada and the lower Great Lakes will pass to the north tonight, and then off the New England coast on Tuesday, the National Weather Service says.

"An area of pressure along the southeast coast will work slowly northward Tuesday into Wednesday. This system passes through the area on Thursday," the NWS says.

The extended forecast for Madison, Clinton, and surrounding towns is as follows:

Tonight: Partly cloudy, with a low around 56. North wind between 5 and 7 mph.

Tuesday: Partly sunny, with a high near 68. East wind around 10 mph.

Tuesday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 53. East wind around 9 mph.

Wednesday: A chance of rain, mainly after 2pm. Cloudy, with a high near 61. East wind between 8 and 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.

Wednesday Night: Rain. Low around 55. East wind between 8 and 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New rainfall amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.

Thursday: Rain likely. Cloudy, with a high near 69. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.

Thursday Night: A chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 59. Chance of precipitation is 40%.

Friday: A chance of showers. Partly sunny, with a high near 69. Chance of precipitation is 40%.

Friday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 55.
