On June 9, 2012, the Madison Department of Police Services in conjunction with Agents from the State of Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection’s Liquor Control Division, and the Governor’s Prevention Partnership, conducted unannounced compliance inspections of establishments that sell alcoholic products.  The inspections were performed in an effort to determine compliance with state laws concerning the prohibition of the sale of alcohol to youths under the age of twenty-one.

Under the direction and supervision of the Liquor Control Division agents, two 18 year-old, undercover volunteers, (one male and one female) employed by the Governor’s Prevention Partnership, entered the establishment and attempted to purchase alcoholic products.
