Police Searching for Middletown Bank Robbery Suspect

A white man in his 40s is suspected of robbing the Bank of America branch on Washington Street on early Saturday.

Police are investigating a bank robbery Saturday morning at the Bank of America branch at 895 Washington St. in Middletown.

According to police, at 9:14 a.m. officers were dispatched after someone called to report that there was a robbery in progress. A white man of medium build and assumed to be in his 40s had handed a teller a note demanding cash and implying that he had a gun, according to police.

No one was injured during the incident, police said.

Officers patrolling the area responded to the bank within seconds, but the lone suspect had already fled on foot toward Price Chopper prior to police arriving and after receiving the cash.

A Middletown Police K-9 officer and his partner responded and started to track the suspect, described as being 5’11” tall, with dark hair and the beginnings of a gray beard. Despite their efforts, police said that the suspect might have fled in a waiting vehicle.

The Investigative Services Division responded and detectives processed the crime scene and will continue to investigate the incident.
