Suspect In Guilford Armed Robbery In Custody, Police Say

A West Haven man was arrested and charged with the armed robbery of the Guilford Mobil convenience store Saturday. Anthony Simmons is now in custody after being apprehended Saturday evening.

 

Anthony Simons, 44, of 353 Center Street, West Haven, was apprehended  Saturday, December 8th, by the Guilford Police, along with the Milford and West Haven Police Departments, and was charged in connection with an armed robbery.

Simons is charged with robbing a Guilford convenience store, the Guilford Mobil located at 1164 Boston Post Road, in Guilford at 6 a.m. Saturday. According to police, the suspect allegedly robbed the store clerk at knife point. No injuries were reported, police said.

Guilford Police report that the suspect has been charged with robbery in the 1st degree, threatening in the 2nd degree, Larceny in the 6th degree and breach of peace. 

Police say Simons is also a suspect in several other robberies throughout the state.

He remains in custody on a $200,000 bond and will be arraigned in New Haven December 20th, 2012.
