Man Charged With Madison Bank Robbery Charged Again, This Time In Meriden

East Haven man was arrested in Dec. in connection with robberies in Madison, North Branford, Plainfield, and Essex, Connecticut.

 

Meriden Police have arrested an East Haven man accused of  and charged him with robbing a Meriden TD Bank in November.

Christopher Bishop, 37, of 41 Phillip Street in East Haven, turned himself in to Meriden Police on Monday, Jan. 9, after the department issued a warrant for his arrest, police spokesman Det. Lt. Mark Walerysiak said Wednesday.

Bishop is charged with third-degree robbery and fourth-degree larceny in the Nov. 29, 2011at 733 East Main Street. 

Police say Bishop is the man who, wearing a black mask and keeping one hand in his jacket, reportedly demanded money from tellers at the bank.

Tellers complied, and the man then made off with an undisclosed amount of money through a back door.

Bishop was by Madison and , who charged him with October bank robberies in each of those towns. He was served with an arrest warrant by Plainfield Police while in custody, according to the Norwich Bulletin. Bishop was then  on Dec. 30 and charged with robbing the First Niagara Bank in that town. 

Meriden Police tied Bishop to the Meriden robbery through video footage the East Main Street bank captured of his car, Walerysiak said.

"We were able to get one of the videos that had images of the vehicle he was in – a vehicle that was noticed in other cities' robberies," Walerysiak said. "From there we were able to ascertain a plate and track it back to him."

Bishop is due in court on Jan. 18, and is held on a $10,000 bond in this case.

Walerysiak said he received no indication that Bishop is a suspect in the TD Bank.
